Senior Financial Accountant
- 10 Feb 2026
- Sydney
- Permanent / Full Time
If you are a technically strong accountant who enjoys ownership, complexity, and being trusted to run your patch properly, this is one of those rare roles that actually delivers on that.
This is not a churn and burn month end role. It is a seat close to the decision making, with exposure to complex accounting, a multinational structure, and a high calibre Group Financial Controller who values quality over noise.
Why you would want this role
You will be given real responsibility and real trust.
This role offers:
- A genuine technical accounting seat, not diluted by transactional work
- Direct exposure to complex areas like lease accounting, impairment, goodwill, and financing
- A structured, well governed reporting environment where good accounting actually matters
- Close day to day partnership with an experienced Group Financial Controller
- Long term stability within a growing, asset backed business
- The opportunity to improve processes rather than just follow them
If you enjoy knowing your balance sheet is tight, your numbers are right, and your work stands up to audit scrutiny, you will enjoy this role.
The work you will enjoy
You will own your area end to end, with clear accountability and support.
Your day to day will include:
- Running key parts of month end and statutory reporting
- Being the go to person for lease accounting under AASB 16
- Leading impairment and goodwill assessments with proper modelling and judgment
- Managing loan accounting and balance sheet integrity
- Working alongside a dedicated tax function rather than carrying tax alone
- Helping lift the quality of reporting as the business continues to grow
You will be trusted to think, not just process.
What will make you successful
You are technically confident, detail focused, and comfortable in complexity.
You will likely have:
- CA or CPA qualification
- Solid financial accounting experience in a medium to large environment
- Strong technical grounding across leases, impairment, and statutory reporting
- The confidence to work directly with auditors and senior stakeholders
Experience in property, accommodation, or asset heavy businesses will help, but strong fundamentals matter more.
The bottom line
This is a high quality Senior Financial Accountant role for someone who wants depth, ownership, and credibility in their work, not just another title.
If that sounds like you, it is worth a conversation.
